If you’re reading this, you are likely in advertising—and you’ve experienced how fast and frequently our entire medium shifts. These relentless changes remind us how time spares no one. I personally am no stranger to abrupt adaptation with my odds stacked against me.
My high school cancer diagnosis stripped away any career aspirations, as my rate of survival was a meagre 50 percent. Entirely robbed of strength, mobility and everything tangible, all I had was the prayer of living on to discover myself and translate my resilience into something magnificent.
I lived up to my affirmation, which demonstrated the immense strength of words and how they can orchestrate significant feats. Upon discovering copywriting, it immediately became my North Star, fuelling my drive to excel academically while working two jobs.
Reflecting on my AdClub scholarship proposal, I had no recipe other than to speak from the heart. My emphasis on humility, eagerness and brevity echoes today. Winning the scholarship unlocked a network of brilliant mentors who humble me while encouraging my unique gifts.
Since graduating, I’ve successfully freelanced, worked in-house and written for numerous industries. Recently I’ve discovered my creative spirit flourishes in finance, where I bridge art with commerce to navigate readers closer to prosperity.
As mentorship is increasingly rare due to the nature of remote work, it’s my honour to extend the support I’ve received from the AdClub to emerging graduates. Let’s connect:
